The Father Gives!

The Father Gives

When I was a young girl, without a father to love me,
The father up above gave me such a blessed gift,
He brought to me a father who could show me of his love,
A father who was willing to accept me for me.
Even though I was not willing to accept this gift,
As a real father should, he loved me without ever giving up on me,
He continued to teach me through his love, of the father's love,
A love that is unconditional and never ending.
Through those teenage years, I was not the best daughter,
And I know that I gave him plenty of restless nights,
But, with a gentle voice, and very strong will,
His love helped to get me through, His love helped me to grow.
He brought me a father who cared,
He brought a father like no other,
He brought me a father to love.
He brought me a father who could teach me to love.
Everyday, now that I am grown, and out in the world,
With a young man of my own to raise, and a man by my side,
I am so very thankful that the father sent this precious gift,
A father who could show me the way to love.
